The Grampians:

The Great Ocean Road Drive:

High on caffeine and adrenalin, I covered a lot on my first day's drive from the Grampians to and along A1-Princes Hwy, a.k.a. the Great Ocean Road. Some highlights from the day's drive included wind farms near Codrington, cottages and Griffiths Island at Port Fairy, koala bears, volcano ash layers and emus at Tower Hill Reserve, southern right whale watching at Warrnambool's Logan Beach, dairy farms near/around Naringal, Bay of Islands near Peterborough, London Bridge and the Arch near Port Campbell, and finally Loch Ard Gorge and the Twelve Apostles near Princetown, just in time for sunset.

After spending a night at the 13th Apostle guesthouse (bunk bed for A$25/night, which included breakfast), I drove to Johnanna beach, Apollo Bay, Lorne, Aireys Inlet's Split Point Lighthouse (a.k.a. "White Queen" in chess), Point Addis, Bells Beach, and finally Torquay (purportedly the surfing capital of the world?) where I spent the night at the Bells Beach Lodge for A$20/night. I headed back to Tullamarine, Melbourne, the next day and returned my rental.
