A charming city with many historical buildings still beautifully preserved, this city in the Alsace region of northeastern France is host to several European institutions including the EU parliament's one-half of the legislative chamber (with the other legislative half presided in Brussels under the Council of the European Unions).
Strasbourg has a distinct German and French culture. This, plus its hosting of several European institutions, could be reasons why I feel the locals in Strasbourg seem a tad more tolerant and pleasant than the French from the other regions in France. When you're here, you can't help but feel you're in a classic fairy tale like "The Pipe Piper" and "Hansel and Gratel".
